March 13, 2007, Martinsburg Newspaper. Grace V. Roberts, 87, Valley View Home, formerly of Bloomsburg and Oklahoma, was born in Martinsburg, daughter of Ephriam and Elsie Rightenour Shoeman. She married Arnold Roberts. He died in 1972. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Leroy. Surviving are a daughter, Sandy Herr; three grandchildren; and sisters: Evelyn Lynn, Alverta Cunningham and Margaret Foust.

Her son Leroy died shortly after his birth in 1935. Dad said the baby was large and the doctor broke his neck trying to pull him out, but the baby's death certificate doesn't indicate that. She grieved terribly so my dad took her to the Roaring Springs Hospital and they adopted a little girl from the hospital. They named her Violet. When Grace left Bruce, Violet stayed behind. Bruce moved to Ohio and his brother Roy and his wife cared for Violet until she died in her teens.

Grace was full of life when she met Bruce. They laughed at life and were often seen wearing military flight caps. Her jubilant, outgoing, behavior earned her the nickname of "Crazy Gracie." The family has a photo of her when she was married to Bruce, and she is stunningly beautiful.
