The "Weddington Cemetery" is named after James Weddington, since he was the first owner of the land, and he created the family plot.

His son, Wilson C. Weddington and Wilson's sons, Milo Guy Weddington and Fred Rutledge Weddington lived in Los Angeles, California and were founders and developers of North Hollywood, California.

He was first married to Rebecca (Ellis) Weddington, who died November 22, 1843 at age 46. There were married in Rowan County, North Carolina.

His second wife, Amy D. Weddington died February 12, 1864 at age 39.

NOTE: Rebecca and Amy are on the same marker as J. C. Weddington.
