"Another Pioneer Gone--Mr. William Lee passed away at his residence, in Seaforth, on Saturday last. Mr. Lee had been in feeble health for several months, and his death was not unexpected. He had reached the somewhat unusual age of 89 years. Mr. Lee was a native of the south of Ireland, and came to this country when quite a young man. He settled on a farm on the Huron road, McKillop, two miles east of Seaforth, over sixty years ago, and was one of the first settlers in these parts. His farm was then all woods, but, by perseverance and industry, he soon converted it into a comfortable home, and, when he left it, about fifteen years ago, it was one of the best in this section(?). He was a remarkably robust man, and few could stand so well the hardships and privations(?) of pioneer life. About fifteen years ago he sold his farm to his sons, and, retiring from the more active duties of life, he came to reside in Seaforth, and has lived here ever since. He was a sociable, genteel man; a good neighbor and useful citizen. He was a consistent member of the Methodist church, and a life long and active Conservative in politics. He leaves behind a widow and large family, several of who are residing in the United State, only one son, Mr. James Lee, now being a resident of this vicinity. By his death another of the few remaining links between the pioneer days and the present has been removed. The remains were laid to rest in the Maitlandbank cemetery on Tuesday."

NOTE: Age 89 at time of death would make his year of birth about 1810.
