Rufus King Pickett was the son of William (son of Micajah) and Mary (King) Pickett. He was born in Fairfield District South Carolina and married Sarah Caroline Jenkins on Sept. 23, 1829. Miss Jenkins was the daughter of Edmund Jenkins and Mary Buckholt (The daughter of Major Buckholt of General Francis Marion's raiders). He was on the Board of Directors of the Manchester Commercial Bank, a branch of the Planter's Bank of Atlanta, Georgia. Caroline's grave is in Yazoo City's Glenwood Cemetery. At this writing Rufus' grave is not located, family tradition claims he was buried on his plantation.
