Virginia "Gina" was known as "Mama B" to her family and many friends. She was born in Brooklyn, New York. Gina later lived in Brazil, Pennsylvania, Washington State, and Texas. Truly the "life of the party", she was known for her sense of humor, her vibrant love of life, her boisterous laugh, and her beautiful singing voice.
Gina was a schoolteacher for 32 years for Fort Worth, Azle, and Springtown Independent School Districts. She was one of the original Head Start kindergarten teachers in the 1960s and later became a second grade special reading teacher. Many also knew her as the "Book Lady" of Montgomery Antique Street Mall, where she sold rare and hard-to-find books. Gina loved children, books, silly hats, gardening, writing poetry, traveling the world with her family, and hosting parties at her home on Eagle Mountain Lake. Most of all, she loved God, her family and friends, and the First United Methodist Church of Azle, where she was a member for 43 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Walker Sr.; her mother, Virginia Doing Walker; and brother, Gordon Walker Jr.
Gina is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James Lawrence Baxter; her children, Mark Lins, James Douglas Baxter, and Amy Baxter Ley; grandchildren, Joshua Lins, Daniel Lins, Gabriel Lins, and Joana Kimsey; and great-grandson, Steve Kimsey.
