Mrs. Genevieve (Jan) Spears Collins, passed away on July 27, 2019, after a long but courageous and valiantly fought battle with dementia. Her strength and endurance to meet and endure the challenges were nothing short of amazing.
Jan was born on December 18, 1935, to Joe and Ocie Adkins Spears in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was married to Eugene Collins for 55 years when he preceded her in death. They had one daughter, Deborah Lynn. On September 4, 2017, Jan made her profession of faith proclaiming Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
Jan and Gene lived many years in Albion, Michigan, where they enjoyed golf, travel and life. Upon their retirement, they always knew they would return to their beloved Kentucky where they made their home and enjoyed their retirement years continuing golfing and traveling.
Jan is survived by her only child, Deborah (Craig) Adams, and grandchildren Ashley (Jeremy) Brummer and Kyle (Ashley) Adams and her pride and joy great-grandchildren Emilynn, Crailey and Benton Brummer and Anna, Esther, Tyler, Livie and Ryan Adams. Also surviving her are sisters Barbara (Lonnie) Tackett and Carol (Dale) Tomlinson. Her brother, Hubert, and sister, Patricia, predeceased her. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews who knew her as Gigi.
Jan will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10am Saturday, August 3, 2019 at J.W. Call Funeral Home
Services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11am at JW Call Funeral Home in Pikeville, Kentucky with burial following at Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel. With Dale Tomlinson officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Greg Tackett, Kyle Adams, Matt Tomlinson, Jeremy Brummer, Stanley Tomlinson and Mike Tackett. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Grant Tomlinson.
