John Waddell, was born in Wheeling, in 1797, and the day he was of age, he married Margaret Giffin, born there also, in 1799. They had ten children; Nancy, William, Daniel, John, Samuel, Benjamin, Isaac, Elizabeth, Jane, and Mary.
Robert Dedeck and Clifford Neilson in their book, "The WADDELLs of COLONIAL PENNSYLVANIA and VIRGINIA", 1992, identify William, John, Benjamin and James as the sons of William Waddel per his will proven in July 1829 and further state that John was born 23 Jun 1797 and moved to Marion Co, Ohio where he died on 4 Jan 1841.
They also identify William's wife as Elizabeth Neilson who he married, on 25 Mar 1794 in Franklin Co, PA. Elizabeth Neilson was born 4 Apr 1774 the daughter of John Neilson, Sr. and Isabella Stockton in Letterkenny, Cumberland (now Franklin) Co, PA and died 29 Apr 1853 (tombstone =1854) in the vicinity Wheeling, Ohio Co, VA. and is buried in the Old Tent Cemetery (near Wheeling WV).
