Donald A. "Al" Barry, 68, of Walnut Avenue, a retired employee of the Chevrolet plant in the Town of Tonawanda and a decorated World War II veteran, died Thursday, September 22, 1988, in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
He was awarded the Purple Heart for battle wounds suffered in Italy while serving as an Army infantry corporal.
Barry was a native of Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania, and came here in 1949. He retired in 1985 after 30 years of service at Chevrolet.
He was a member of the Buff Social Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret E. MacKenzie; three sons, Gerald W. of Lockport, Donald L. and Norman E.; a stepson, Raymond L. MacKenzie of Orchard Park; a brother, Raymond L.; two sisters, Ruth Smith and Beryl Nichols, both of Reynoldsville; and a grandchild.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the Rhoney Funeral Home, 1124 Ontario Avenue. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
