Actor of the Stage and Screen. He studied under several noted stage performers, including Edwin Booth, John McCullough and Lewis Morrison in Philadelphia, and his career as a stage actor blossomed in the 1890s, touring with various Vaudeville companies, including Klaw and Erlanger. He was known for his impersonations of famous historical characters, performing throughout the United States in acts such as, "Pages From History" and "Great Men, Past and Present." He also starred in a long-running production of "Faust," with over 1,500 performances as Mephisto and the title character. With the coming of motion pictures, he moved to Los Angeles in 1913 and was a popular supporting actor in fourteen early silent films, working first for Universal and later for Mack Sennett's Keystone Studios. His film credits include, "Captain Kidd" (1913), "The Buccaneers" (1913), "His Old Fashioned Dad" (1913), "A La Cabaret" (1916), "The Love Comet" (1916), "Her Circus Knight" (1917) and "The Sultan's Wife" (1917).
