Funeral services for Elvie Doyle Woodard will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 in the Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Troy Doyle and Reverend Danny Perry officiating.
Committal service will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Elvie, 93, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born August 10, 1925 in Cherry Winchie to the union of Lawrence Willis and Florence (Doyle) Willis.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Florence Doyle; two husbands, Sonny Boy Doyle and Huey Woodard; three sons, Dewayne “Skipper” Doyle, Ronnie Doyle and L.C. Doyle; six sisters, Erive Carrier, Earthel Mayo, Nellie Holloway, Ann Arceneaux, Ermie Trahan and Helen Hogan; half-sister, Cassie Pitre; two brothers, J.E. Willis and J.C. Willis; half-brother, Wesley Willis; two grandchildren, Jessica Marie Doyle and Sissy Strother.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are one son, Clyde Doyle and his wife, Tangie of Glenmora; two daughters, Faye Strother and her companion, Roger Burnette of Glenmora and Wanda Glen Lockhart of Glenmora; one brother, J.Y. Willis of Cleveland, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Ethan Doyle, William Wilson, L’Daruis Johnson, Brett Faulk, Travis Loyd and Dusty Doyle. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Caden Lee, Dewayne Wilson, Noah Wilson, Jesse Jordan and Alton Strother.
Visitation will be held in the Bethel Baptist Church on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the church.
