From this union, they had six children: Laura Katherine Knapp, Cynthia Diane Knapp, Steven Paul Knapp (1951-2006), Mark James Knapp (1954-2000), John Weston Knapp, and Ruth Elise Knapp.
~
After his military service, Homer Knapp was employed as Chief Technician by the Pacific Northwest Bell in Portland, Pendleton, and Bend, Oregon. He retired after 31 years with Pacific Northwest Bell and spent his time with his wife in Arizona and Washington.
~
Homer enjoyed his family, traveling and astronomy.
~
Homer felt this way about his passing away:
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep,
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush.
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.
~
It was with this feeling that Homer did not wish to be buried or have a memorial in his memory.
