Myra Virginia Barden Chesapeake - Myra Virginia Barden, 84, went to be with the Lord, March 22, 2016. She was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Leon and Myra Tatem Doane. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Roger L. Barden, Jr.; son, William "Buddy" Barden; 1 sister and 4 brothers. Myra was a longtime member of River Oak Church, Chesapeake where she was an active greeter for 12 years. She also enjoyed her Tuesday Night Bible Study Group. Myra was very crafty, had a wide variety of doll and figurine collections and enjoyed traveling in the earlier years. But most of all, she loved her family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Robin L. Baker & her husband, Britt; sons, Roger "Rocky" L. Barden, III and Kenneth "Kenny" D. Barden & his wife, Sherrie; grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Brandon, Kristin, Stacy and Scott; great-grandson, Lucas; brother, Leon "Skinny" M. Doane and many other loving family and friends. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11 am at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake with Pastor Heath Burris officiating. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach at 2 pm. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-7:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to River Oak Church, 255 Great Bridge Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23320.
