He was the husband of Marcia (Bickford) Torrey, his wife of 58 years. Born in Rockland, MA, he was a son of the late Charles Winthrop and Caroline (Durant) Torrey.
A resident of Bristol for 7 years, he previously resided in Barrington for 40 years. He was a self employed Architectural Designer in Barrington for 20 years, he previously worked for the firms of Howe, Prout and Ekman, and Baker and Conlon.
Mr. Torrey was a communicant of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Bristol, where he was a former Senior Warden. He was a former Senior Warden at St. Matthew's Church in West Barrington and a former Barrington School Committee member for 8 years and had served on the Barrington Building Board of Review and a member of the building committee for the Barrington Middle School. He was a member and a past Master for the St. Alban's Masonic Lodge, Bristol.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Caroline T. Scott and her husband, Thomas H. of Barrington and Jennifer L. Catanzaro and her husband, David of Cranston, six grandchildren, Ryan and Trevor Scott, Eliza and Camden Pond, Sara and Jaime Catanzaro, two brothers, George Torrey of Florida and Peter Torrey of New Hampshire and a sister, Elizabeth Torrey of Alabama.
Memorial Requiem Eucharist Service in celebration of his life in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol.
