Ambjør Christensdatter, the second of four children born to Christen Østensen Seielstadløkken and Maria Christensdatter Myrsveen, was born Thursday, 6 Aug 1829, on Seielstadløkken in Ringebu parish, Oppland County, Norway. Ambjør was baptized in the Ringebu Church 23 Aug 1829, with baptismal sponsors Christen Øvrelien, Torger Myrsveen, Maren Nedrelien, Marit Onshuusrønningen, and Anne Østensdatter (per minister's book: page 127, line 49). Ambjør was vaccinated 20 Oct 1840, and confirmed in the Ringebu Church 1 Jun 1845. She was rated somewhat good in her knowledge of Christianity and good in her diligence (per minister's book: pages 654-5, line 30).

Ambjør married Lars Jacobsen Vigen Thursday, 8 Dec 1853 at the Ringebu Church (she was called Embjør Christensdatter Liahagen in the marriage record), the first marriage for both, with witnesses Nils Midtrøen and Johannes Siklet (per minister's book, pp. 389-99, line 27). Lars and Ambjør had seven children (including the first, who died in infancy), born from 1852 to 1869. They lived on various husmannsplasser (tenant farms) in Ringebu parish.

In 1865, Lars and Ambjør and their four children lived together on Godlijordet, nord, in Fåvang sub-parish, Ringebu parish, but Lars and Ambjør separated by 1875. In 1875, Ambjør and their three sons lived on Gunderstuen under Øvre Randklev in Ringebu, Ringebu, with Ambjør supporting herself and one of their young sons by working as a day laborer and spinner, with the youngest son supported by poor relief. Their three daughters lived on two other farms, the older two employed and the youngest supported by poor relief. Lars lived in Grytten parish, Møre og Romsdal County (near the city of Åndalsnes on the west coast), in 1875, 1891, 1900, 1910, and 1912.

In 1891, Ambjør lived on Randklevshorten, with her son Johannes, his wife, and daughter; in 1900, on Gunderstuen, living alone, employed at spinning and knitting; and in 1905, on her mother's home farm of Myrsveen, as a selveierkone (owner-wife), all in Ringebu, Oppland County.

Of 22 known references to Ambjør in the Norwegian church books and censuses, her first name is spelled Ambjør in seven (including her birth), Embjør in nine, Embjørg in three, Embjer once, and Ambjørg twice. Ambjør's mitochondrial DNA haplogroup was H1i (per a 23andMe test of her female-line great-great-granddaughter).

Ambjør died Friday, 22 Dec 1905, in Ringebu, Oppand, at age 76, from a stroke. A doctor was summoned during her last illness. Her funeral was Saturday, 30 Dec 1905, in the Ringebu church. She was buried Saturday, 30 Dec 1905, in the Ringebu Churchyard.
