He was born May 8, 1922 in Floydada, Texas, to Abner and Inez Mitchell DuBose. He graduated from Aspermont High School then enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1941. On furlough, he returned home to marry the love of his life, Lenetta Patton on May 9, 1942. He retired from the Air Force in 1965 with a rank of Major. The couple then moved to Colorado City, buying partnerships in the John Deere and David Browne tractor business. In 1972, they moved to Abilene where they sold Real Estate and enjoyed a bowling league before retiring to the Stubblefield farm near Colorado City in 1983. Wayne and Lenetta liked playing games and watching ballgames with friends. They loved traveling, with extended stays in Colorado, California, and Zapata, Texas, and even a tour through Europe. They made life-long friends wherever they went. They were proud members of the First Presbyterian Church in Colorado City.
