Adeline Hudlow Lineberger Lutz, age 100, ascended and in the presence of God, was reunited with family the morning of Aug. 14, 2017.
Born June 17, 1917, in Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of prominent residents William M. Lineberger and Mattie Flack Lineberger. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert F. Lutz, Sr.; son, Robert F. Lutz, Jr.; parents; an infant brother; sister, Mary Wilson Hawkins; and brother, William M. Lineberger, Jr.
Born and raised in Shelby, she lived for many years in the Belvedere Park neighborhood, which was developed by her father. She was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. She graduated from Fassifern School in Hendersonville, NC in 1935 and attended Greensboro College. She was an avid gardener with a particular love for gardenias. She also enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, knitting, baking and sewing handmade Christmas ornaments and stockings.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Anne F. Lutz; grandson Robert F. Lutz, III, wife Laura and children Raven Keller-Lutz, Frankie Lutz, Lily Turner, Dylan Turner, and Jude Lutz; grandson Spain Lutz, wife Kari and children Olivia and William Lutz; granddaughter Robin Lutz Wright, husband Chris, and children Lutz, Eli and Eden Wright; grandson Jonathan Lutz; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Central United Methodist Church in Shelby, NC, with the Rev. Mark Barden officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Lutz's memory to Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC 28150 or the American Diabetes Association, 2434 Hudson Road, Greer, SC 29650.
