James Carson, the oldest son of W T and Sarah Carson was born in Shelby County, Indiana, September 8, 1840. With his parents he moved to Davis County, Iowa, 1851, where he grew to manhood upon the farm where his aged parents still reside. On December 26, 1861, he was wedded to Miss Clarrisa Scott. During this union there were born unto them 6 children, 2 of whom died in infancy.
In an early day the family moved to Nebraska near Osceola, where afterwards his wife died December 12, 1888. The children grew to man and womanhood there, and have since settled there in homes of their own, but the father, Mr Jas Carson, returned to Davis County, in 1892, and lived with his father and mother in the old home. Mr Carson married Mrs Maud King I believe this should be Mary E King a widow) in November 1896, since which time they have resided happily on their farm southwest of Bloomfield. While living in Nebraska, Mr Carson was converted and joined the M E Church, and upon his return to Davis County he transferred his membership to the Mt. Moriah congregation of the C P Church, where he has ever since lived a bright, happy, consistent Christian Life.
His wife, 4 children and a step son survive him and mourn his demise. During his recent affliction and illness. he was at all times patient and submissive, and almost his last words were "yes, I am ready to go". He was a ever loving and dutiful son to his aged parents, a tender, true and devoted husband, a father whose memory [this ends here so there must be more in another column] According to WPA Graves Registration he is buried in Mt Moriah Cemetery, West Grove Township, Davis County, Iowa.
