SPRINGFIELD -Albert C. "A.C." Jones Sr., 69, of Springfield, formerly of Auburn, died Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born July 8, 1931, in Auburn, the son of Charles and Marry Herron Jones. He married Joann B. Brown in 1953 in Springfield.
Mr. Jones was a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at the Cook Street facility for 20 years.
He was a member of the First Church of God and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors: wife, Joann; four sons, Albert C. Jones Jr. of Litchfield, Bob and John F. (wife, June) Jones, both of Chatham, and David P. (wife, Pat) Jones of Springfield; a daughter, Vicki J. Jones of Springfield; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Jones of East St. Louis; a sister, Violet (husband, Richard) Powell of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Auburn, the Rev. Jonathan Grubbs officiating. Burial: Auburn Cemetery.
