Brenda Newton passed away on August 5, 2019 at home in Edmond, Oklahoma.
She was born January 9, 1953 in Bonham, Texas. While in grade school, Brenda’s parents, Robert and Evelyn (Nicely) Akins, moved the family to Sacramento, California.

Brenda was the Director of Human Resources & Event Planning and Fundraising at the Omniplex, now known as the Oklahoma Science Museum. She also organized the Annual Aero Space Hall of Fame Celebration and enjoyed her job and co-workers immensely. In her free time from work, Brenda served as an officer at the Late Great Chevy Car Club.

Brenda loved to work in her garden, cook, sew, and paint. She was an avid reader, who enjoyed current events, decorating, traveling, and old classic cars. She loved animals, Christmas, and Game of Thrones. She was a patient, loving, funny, jokester. Brenda was also understanding and giving. She was just a truly wonderful person to know.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Evelyn Akins.

She is survived by her husband John Newton; daughters Kelli Newton Thompson and husband Sheldon and Staci Newton; granddaughter Lyric Morris; sisters Karen McDoulett and husband George and Sharron Freelen; brother James Akins; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her dog, Cowboy and kitty, Aspen.
