Derrell S. “Pappy” Taylor, age 83, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away on May 17, 2014. He was born on August 29, 1930 in Willeyville, West Virginia to Howard Taylor and Hazel (Liston) Taylor. Derrell was employed at A.C. Williams.

He enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, auctions, flea markets, coaching youth sports and was a great softball pitcher. His neighbors will dearly miss their “Lawnmower Man.”

Derrell will be dearly missed by his wife, Doris, whom he married in March 1949; children, Marc (Cheryl) of Windham, Brook (Robin) of Mogadore, Cheryl (Craig) Berna of Ravenna and Robin (Wade) Currence of Freedom; sisters, Lois Rittman of Freedom and Mary Lou Jacoby of Ravenna; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Maxine, Glenn and Frank.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 11AM to 12 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 8382 Center Road, Garrettsville, OH 44231. A funeral service will be on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 12 PM at the funeral home with Elder David Humble officiating. Interment will follow at Drakesburg Cemetery.
