Wilburn H Coltrane, 32, a truck driver employed by the Placerville Lumber Company, was killed late Friday afternoon in an accident near the company headquarters at Fresh Pond.
The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock from Memory Chapel, Rev Jesse R Rudkin pastor of the Federated Church officiated. Interment was at Union cemetery.
Mr Coltrane was driving a trunk loaded with lumber and was preparing for the transfer of the load from his trunk to the trailer. He "lined his trunk up" for the transfer and when he noticed that the trailer was not ready for the transfer, he got out of his truck and took a position behind his truck and between it and the trailer to watch men working on the trailer.
Unseen by him or the other workers, the loaded truck rolled backward and crushed him against the trailer, inflicting internal injuries of which he died in about twenty minutes.
Mr Coltrane was a native of Missouri and prior to entering the employ of the lumber company, he worked for the PG&E Company.
His wife Vera and four children survive him.
