William "Cross Tie" Bill" Siler was the son of Calvin P. Siler (1834-1862) and
Charlotta Catherine "Lottie" Bennett Siler Foley.
William "Cross Tie" Bill Siler married Susie S. Bennett on March 14, 1880 in
Campbell County, Tennessee.

William Siler was called "Crosstie Bill" because he made and sold crossties to the railroad. Selling crossties supplemented his farming.
