V. Margaret Cram, age 100, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2004, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. Vaughna Margaret Haynes was born on October 5, 1903, on a farm near Lohrville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Fremont and Emma J. (Galvin) Haynes.

Margaret attended country school near Lohrville and Lohrville High School. She continued her education at Cedar Falls receiving her teacher's certificate. She taught for a couple years until her marriage to Charles Carson Cram on February 5, 1925, in Lohrville. To this union three daughters were born: Elizabeth "Bette", Josephine, and Sadee.

She enjoyed teaching in her earlier years, working at the school helping with the lunch program, and later as a clerk, for many years, at Staabs Hardware in Lake View.

Margaret cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She was always doing for others, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and neighbors. She was a member of the Lakes United Methodist Church of Lake View, Eastern Star, member of a card club, active in politics, and helped with the winter carnival.

Survivors include her daughters: Josephine Leonard of Des Moines, IA, and Sadee Frank of Lake View; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; and extended family members.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carson in 1961; daughter Bette in 2003; a grandson Joe; great-granddaughter Kelli; five brothers: Elza, Joe, Vance, Jack, and Dee; and her three sisters: Eden, Julia, and Sadee.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 2, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View, with Rev. Rick Johnson officiating and Marilyn Hundling, organist. Pallbearers include the following: Doug Smith, Dick Zastrow, Brian Hogstad, Charles Leonard, Calvin Leonard, Clint Leonard, Mike Frank, Mike McCrillis, and Mike Naberhaus. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lohrville under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
