Dick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patty Jean of Pampa; one daughter, Lisa Alexander of Lubbock; two sons, James Alexander of Carrollton and Richard Alexander of Edmond, Okla.; and eight grandchildren.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950, where he immediately rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Senior Jet Engine Mechanic. In 1953, he was accepted into Aviation Cadet Training. He graduated and received his wings at Bryan Air Force Base in Bryan in 1954. While stationed in Bryan, he met Patty Jean Reynolds, his future bride. He was proud to serve his country as an Air Force Fighter Pilot and retired in 1970. After his Air Force career, he entered and graduated from Texas Tech School of Law and served his community as a General Practice attorney, who always found a way to help people who could not afford legal help.
Dick's greatest joys were his God, family, friends and of course his golf game. Always quick with a joke and a smile to everyone he met, his sense of humor will be missed.
Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2007, at Sunset Church of Christ Chapel, at 34th and Memphis in Lubbock. A short visitation will be held after the service in lieu of graveside services. Burial will be in the family plot in Hichita, Okla.
In lieu of cards/flowers, donations may be made to the Lubbock Children's Home or Sunset International Bible Institute, c/o Sunset Church of Christ, 3234 34th St. Lubbock, TX 79410
