MARGUERITE HARRAETTA "MARGY" BOWERS ~ (4 March 1932~6 July 2009)

She is the third of five children of Harry Lowell Bowers and Dorothy Evelyn [Justice] Bowers. She was born, Friday, March 4, 1932 at Kempton, Garrett County, Maryland.

She passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 in Beckley, West Virginia at age 77.

Growing up in the coal towns of West Virginia, she spent her childhood playing outdoors with her siblings and had many fond memories of their time together. She was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, West Virginia. In high school she was a member of the Booster Club and the Junior Red Cross Club and was the Prompter of the Junior Class Play. At age 22, she enlisted in the United States Army. She served as a nurse during the late stage of the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1957, and again from 1958 to 1961. Upon returning from the Army, Margy moved to Missouri. She attended the University of Missouri and settled in St. Joseph where she worked as a psychiatric social worker until she retired and returned to Beckley, West Virginia.

She was survived by her siblings, Harry Lowell Bowers, Jr., Ella Lorraine Albrecht (husband William), Virginia Gates (husband Harry), and Judy Williams (husband Larry); and 11 nieces and nephews.

She was buried in the Valor Section of Sunset Memorial Gardens, Beckley, West Virginia.
