James (Jim) Benjamin House Jr. passed away peacefully at home June 28, 2019. James was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Erick, OK. At the age of 6 years old, he moved to Clatskanie, OR, with his parents James Benjamin Sr. and Lucy House in 1942. After graduating from Clatskanie Union High School in 1955, he attended Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, OR. Jim pursued a degree in Automotive Technology from 1955-1957. Jim retuned to Clatskanie to start his own automotive repair and towing business known as Jim House Towing.

In 1957, Jim met his first wife Delores Wilson and they married 1959 and had three children. In 1980, Jim had his last child with his partner Geneva Umsted. Jim continued operating his business with his life partner Phyllis Thayer until his passing.

Jim is survived by his life partner Phyllis Thayer and her son Dean Bruner, his four children Sharon (House) Wachsnicht, Wesley House, Brenda (House) Keim and Alice Umsted. Jim also had 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be July 5, 2019, at Columbia Funeral Service, 1105 Maple Street, Longview, WA, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. On July 6, a procession will begin at 12:30 from 225 SE 3rd Street, Clatskanie, OR, taking him to his final resting place at Murray Hill Cemetery 90 SW Hall Road, Clatskanie, OR.

Following the service a reception and luncheon for family and friends will be at the Clatskanie Legion Hall 950 NE 5th Street Clatskanie, OR.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Home Health and Hospice in memory of James Benjamin House Jr. would be appreciated. Arrangements made through Columbia Funeral Service Longview, WA
