Alvina Louise (Klinkerman) Hancock, 92, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2017, in Larksville, Pennsylvania.

Alvina was born on December 11, 1924, in a little farmhouse in Clara, Texas, to Elmer Lorenz Alexander (Alex) Klinkerman and Emma Katherine Schroeder. Alvina grew up on her grandparents' farm just west of Burkburnett, Texas. She graduated from Burkburnett High School in 1942 and married her high school sweetheart, Grady Scott Hancock, on June 20, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clara, Texas.

She and Grady hosted countless family gatherings at their country home, which they built on City View Lane. They both loved to grow plants and later realized their dream of having a small nursery called "Hancock's Natural Habitat." Alvina and Grady were charter members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, and active members of the choir for many years. Alvina worked as an LVN at the Wichita Falls Clinic for many years. She was very creative and worked with ceramics, designed and sewed clothes, crocheted and knitted many gifts for her family and friends. She was a good cook and prepared dozens of sweet treats for holidays, birthdays, and “just because.”

Alvina was preceded in death by her husband Grady, parents Alex and Emma, step-mother Clara (Kiesling) Klinkerman, son John Lawrence Hancock, brothers Elmer and Virgil Klinkerman, and sister Nadene Katherine Klinkerman.

She is survived by her sisters LaNelle Marie Coursey of College Station, Texas, and Velma Evelyn Goins of Burkburnett, Texas; daughters Gradyne Wanell Hancock of San Angelo, Texas, and Deborah Jean Schumacher (John) of Burkburnett, Texas; son Kendal Alvin Hancock (Fouzia) of Sugar Notch, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law Jan Davis Hancock of Wichita Falls, Texas; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
