ASHLEY -- Freida Speidel Dockter, 100, Ashley, died Dec. 21, 2002, at the Ashley nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ashley.
She is survived by one son, Herbert Speidel, Ashley; two daughters, Violet Dobler, Dickinson, and Marion Bertsch, Leola, S.D.; two stepdaughters, Leona Bertsch, Lodi, Calif., and Violet Wolff, Leola, S.D.; two stepsons, Leonard Dockter, Lodi, Calif., and Elmer Dockter, Ashley; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

Friedericka Martz, daughter of Thomas and Karolina (Harter) Martz was born March 6, 1902 southeast of Ashley.
She was united in marriage to Gottlieb Speidel on Nov. 4, 1920 at St. James Lutheran Church, rural Ashley...Her husband was in poor health for almost 20 years and died on April 26. 1949.
She was united in marriage to Albert Dockter on March 5, 1953 in the Zion Lutheran Church Parsonage at Ashley...Her husband died Nov. 4, 1982.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son, Hugo, one son in infancy, Edwin, three brothers and six sisters.
