Fred Meier, 73, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of the Town of Holway, Taylor County, was shot and killed Saturday in Phoenix, Ariz., according to word received by relatives in this area. Mr. Meier had been visiting a friend who was ill and on leaving was shot by the friend.
Funeral services will be hled Friday at 2 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Town of Holway. The Rev. Roger Tellock will officiate and burial will be in the Town of Holway Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Ruesch Funeral Home, Medford, Thursday after 12 noon until 12 noon Friday and at the church until time of services.
Mr. Meier was born May 1, 1895, in the Town of Holway, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meier Sr. He never married. He was a retired farmer and had served with the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a member of the Mission Church, Phoenix, Ariz. He moved to Phoenix 35 years ago.
Survivors include two brothers, Arthur, Withee. and George, Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Barth, Thorp, Mrs. Lester Seffrood, South Wayne, Mrs. Harold Kelly, Darlington and Mrs. Adeline Seffrood.
