Mrs. John Murray
Death of Pioneer Resident of Eldora Occurs Friday, November 8
Had Lived Here Nearly Fifty Years
Mrs. John Murray, a resident of Eldora for nearly half a century passed away November 8, 1918, death being due to apoplexy. Eunice Allen was born in Springfield, Ohio January 8, 1845. She came to Iowa in childhood and was married to John Murray in 1864.

The living members of her family are Andrew L. Murray of Pasadena, California; Mrs. Warren Rathbone and Will J. Murray of Eldora; a sister, Mrs. William Lease of Crawford, Nebraska; a brother, E.H. Allen of South Dakota and seven grandchildren. The husband died in 1914; the oldest son Ralph D. died in 1917 and Ray Elmer died in childhood.

Mrs. Murray was a woman who had held friendships for the upwards of forty years possessing that admirable quality of being of service to others. Again and again this community is being reminded that the real pioneers of this section of Iowa are fast passing from the scene of action. In the death of Mrs. Murray the community has lost a woman whose example in life is worthy of emulation.

Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.E. Rathbone, Sunday afternoon, Rev. Roadman officiating. Interment was in the Eldora Cemetery.
