Cora was the daughter of Joseph & Nancy Hopper Smith. She first married Richard Thomas Bagley, 4 Aug 1895, Fayette County, Illinois. After Richard's death she married George Washington Auvil.

Mrs. Cora Auvil, 73, of 1067 East Eldorado street, died at 5:30 a.m. today in St. Mary’s hospital where she had been a patient one week.

Mrs. Auvil had lived in Decatur 15 years, coming here from Brownstown. She was a member of the Brownstown Christian church.

She was born in Brownstown Dec. 2, 1875; a daughter of Joseph and Nancy Smith and was first married to Richard T. Bagley who died in 1934. She then married George Auvil who died in December, 1944.

She leaves nine children, Mrs. Edna Simpson, Mrs. Mabel Fore, Mrs. Agnes Tusing, Jess, Earl, Glenn, Willis and Kenneth Bagley, all of Decatur, and Orville(sic) Bagley of Terre Haute, Ind.

There are 20 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four brothers, Art and Harry Smith, Bloomington, Thomas Smith, Homewood, and Oscar Smith, Kansas City, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Della Van Horn, St. Elmo.

The body is at the J. J. Moran & Sons funeral home where friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel with burial in Griffith cemetery, Brownstown.
