Married at time of death
Cause of death: Cancer

Note: It is possible that her middle name is Marshall and that she was married to a Brownell before Collis. There is no confirmed source for either of these. Her death notice states that she was the mother of Mrs. Silas T. Ives whose name I believe to be Mary E. Brownell Ives, but I have no confirmed source for that either.

In regards to this posting, the following can be added:
She was married 1st to Charles B Brownell (born c1822) with whom she had Susan M Brownell (b1844 Oneida, NY) and Mary E Brownell (b1847 Oneida, NY). This would explain why she was buried in the plot labeled Brownell even though the death notice has her last name as Collis.

She married 2nd, William G Collis.
William's 1st wife Mahalia most likely died giving birth or soon after his birth in 1854/5. William lists his marital status as widowed on the 1855 census and is listed as living with his parents. His 2 children born prior to 1855 are not surprisingly living with Ms. Annie/Annis M, who will become his 2nd wife. It is unknown where Herbert Collis, born presumably while William's wife Mahalia (Mortley) Collis was giving birth, was living. Unable to locate any death info for Mahalia/Mahala (Mortley) Collis. The 1855 designation of 'widowed' is taken at face value especially in light of the fact that her Mortley family members stayed in Utica, Oneida, NY after her death c1855.

The 1860 and 1865 censuses shows the blended families of Wm G Collis and Annis M. (?) Brownell living together. In Ancestry.com, the 1860 census was erroneously misinterpreted as 'Coller' and the 1865 as 'Cellis.' They were notified them of these errors years ago.
