Leesville and surrounding county paid high tribute to the memory of J. T. Rader, one of the widely esteemed citizens of the county whose remains were laid to rest there Saturday afternoon, his being one of the largest funerals in the history of that section. In deference to his memory all the business houses closed during the funeral.

The remains were escorted from here by numerous friends and upon arrival were taken to the Baptist church, of which Mr. Rader was a well known member, and there in the presence of a large concourse of friends and relatives that taxed the capacity of the church, impressive funeral services were held by his pastor, Rev. J. E. Bird, assisted by Rev. J. F. Webb, pastor of the First Methodist church of this city. Warm tribute was paid his memory in the course of the services which were concluded at the cemetery. His last resting place was a veritable bank of fragrant flowers, eloquent expressions of esteem for departed and sympathy for the family, who mourn of the loss of a loved husband, father and brother and for the aged uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Downs who reared him.

Many attended the funeral from Nixon, Smiley, Wrightsboro and other nearby sections, beside a number from this city.
