MRS. ROXY J. GARDNER
The sad news was received here Wednesday morning of the death of Mrs. Roxy J. Gardner, wife of Chauncey B. Gardner, which occurred at the state hospital at Mendota on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Gardner had been in poor health for sometime past and her physical ailments had affected her mentally until it became necessary to remove her to the state institution on Wednesday of last week.
Mrs. Gardner had grown from infancy here and through her kindly disposition and many commendable traits of character had become on of our most highly respected and beloved ladies of the community, particularly of Hicks Valley, where she had lived since her marriage. The sympathy of all is with her husband and children, her parents and brothers.
Roxy Jane Steele, daughter of Addison A. and Cornelia J. (Tuttle) Steele was born December 1886 and died March 21 1922. She was united in marriage June 29, 1904 with Mr. Chauncy B. Gardner at Pepin, Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Richard S. age 13, and Harry D. age 11months; also by her parents and two brothers, B.E. and A.G. Steele, all of Pepin, Wisconsin., and a number of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
The remains will be brought to Pepin for interment and the funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the M.E. Church.∼Married to Chancey: 29 June 1904 Pepin, Pepin, Wisconsin, United States
May have had 1-2 children.
