1926 - 2016
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27th, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Services will be officiated by Troy Guess.
A visitation will also be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary.
Jean was born on November 16, 1926 in Bokoshe, Oklahoma and went to be with Lord on May 23rd, 2016 of Congestive Heart Failure.
Jean was the 3rd child of four girls born to Jack and Nola Golden. Jean came to California along with her husband Chester in 1951 and resided with family in the town of Lamont, CA. Jean was a dedicated Mother raising five children while working various jobs including picking cotton, packing fruit, and also as service assistant at Smith's Bakery. In 1971 Jean began working full time for the Lamont School District as a Cafeteria Cook until her retirement in 1992. Jean had a passion for music and singing at an early age that included singing with her sisters at local community events and church meetings. As a young girl Jean also had special athletic abilities, especially at basketball, where she was considered a strong talent even among the boys.
Jean's passion for music continued as she became the choir leader for her church and was always involved in various church singing events. Athletics remained important for her as she was always attending and cheering her kids and grandchildren on loudly in whatever event was involved. Along with supporting her kid's passions Jean was actively involved in the Lamont Women's Club and VFW Ladies Auxillary. But Jean's ultimate contribution was the deep love she provided to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the devotion she had for her husband Chester.
Jean was predeceased by her Father Jack, Mother Nola, Sisters Chris, Louise, and Ruby, her husband Chester, her in laws Lloyd and Georgia Rhodes, her brother in laws Loyd, Harold, Billy, and sister in laws Lucille, Wanda, Sylvia, Virginia, and Phola. Jean is survived by her children and spouses Regina Roberts, Sharon and Wally Eckdahl, Georgia McCaffrey, Michelle French, Scott and Traci Rhodes, grandchildren Shawn Williamson, Ann Jackson, Brady Roberts, Rod Porterfield, Fletcher Perez, Todd Roberts, Ryan Gibson, Rachel Furr, Jessica Sly, Aaron Rhodes and Cameron Rhodes, and 14 great grandchildren, and sister in law Patsy Sanders, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was a loving and caring individual that will be greatly missed.
We would also like to acknowledge the care and dedication that was given to Mom by Arcadia Care, namely Jasmine and Rose, thank you so much.
