Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Woodfork A.M.E Church in Shelbyville with burial to follow at Mt. Ararat Cemetery. Reverend Randall Webster will serve as eulogist.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
Brenda was born April 17, 1957, in Shelbyville, to the late Clarence Dizard and Dorothy Dysart. She was a member of Woodfork A.M.E Church. She loved her family, cooking, gardening, and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events and performances. She emphasized and encouraged the importance of education to her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth "Butchie Boy" Smith and two brothers, Reggie Dizard and Anthony Dizard; and a sister Claudia Ann Dysart.
She is survived by her devoted partner of 22 years, John "Cookie" Russell, of Shelbyville; four daughters, Kengshasta Cicole Smith, Kimpala Tabriz Smith, Kenitra Kamaran Washington, and Krenda (Stanley) Brown, all of Shelbyville; two sons, Kenneth (Toi) Smith, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kristopher Treyvon Smith, of Shelbyville; one brother-in-law Joe (Donna) Smith; four sister-in-laws, Bessie (Greg) Hampton, Diana (Wilkie) Buchanan, Ricki (Jesse) Rippy, and Deidre Smith, all of Shelbyville; and five grandchildren, Kobe Ryan Arnold, Makayla Danyale Arnold, Theodis Washington III, Nyimah Sanaa Brown, Adoree' Zyrin Smith.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
