Richard Brown Viles death cert says his father was born in E. Tennessee, he wasn't his father Perry was actually born in Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana and he is the son of William Voiles and Martha Banta. The name was changed from Voiles to Viles in the records.

Richard Brown Viles, 71 years old, died at his home in Bolivar recently. He was born on what is known as the Goldsberry Farm, which is located twelve miles southeast of Bolivar, and lived there for the first sixteen years of his life, receiving his education in the surrounding country schools. When he was sixteen he joined the Union Army and fought, four years in the Civil War, afterwards returning to Bolivar and engaging in the mercantile business. In 1898 he bought the Bolivar Bank and converted it in 1904 into the First National Bank of Bolivar. He is survived by Mrs. Viles and four children, L.C. Viles, C.W. Viles, Mrs. Clara Drake, all of Bolivar and Mrs. Kirk Hawkins of Springfield. Mr. and Mrs. Viles celebrated their golden wedding anniversary four years ago.
