Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 13 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bishop for Katie Marie Esparza. Father Gracey officiated the service and interment followed at the East Line Street Cemetery. Born June 7, 2006 in Bishop, Katie died four months later on Oct. 9, 2006. "Katie was a beautiful happy baby. We are all going to miss her big smile, curly hair and her sweet dimple," the family said. She is survived by her parents, Andres and Jennifer; sister, Asuzena; twin brother Andrew; grandfathers Frank Vargas of Bishop and Rosario Esparza of Mexico; great-grandmother Victoria Vargas of Bishop; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
