Mr. Aakre, 88, died Friday (June 29, 2007) at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Hesper, Iowa. On March 19, 1941, he married Norma Peterson in Rushford; she preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1989. Mr. Aakre worked as a lineman for 30 years with Tri County Electric. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards and raising trout on his fish farm.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois Lang of Lewiston and Sharon (John) Gruhlke of Mazeppa; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hoff Funeral Homes-Rushford Chapel, and an hour before the service Friday at the church
