Her last full-time job was with what started out as Marion Labs in KCMO, but stayed there was it went through at least four owners.

When she retired from full time work, she worked part-time at KMart on Metcalf for a few years. When they closed, she went to the Walmart out on Shawnee Mission Parkway. She had an accident which left her as a quadriplegic. She spent time in a few different places, but her last home was in Meadowbrook Hospital in Gardner, KS.

She had nine grandkids, and 15 great-grandkids.Carolyn Ann Hoge, 75, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away July 27, 2018. A visitation and service will be held Saturday, August 4th, 2018 from 10am to 12pm at Charter Funerals, 10250 Shawnee Msn Pkwy, Merriam, Kansas 66203.

Carolyn or “Corky” as she was known by family and friends, was a lifelong resident of Johnson County. She was born and raised in Overland Park where she lived until 1999 before moving to Shawnee. Carolyn was a graduate of Shawnee Mission (North) High School.

She began her career in banking at Overland Park State Bank. She continued her work at Mission State Bank and was employed by the FDIC before taking an administrative position with Marion Laboratories. She retired from Quintiles and took a part-time position with Walmart. On February 14, 2016 Carolyn was injured on the job. Carolyn was told she would never breathe on her own again. However, due to God’s plan, her sheer will to live and with the help of a respiratory nurse named Sharon, she weaned herself off life support. She spent the last two years in rehabilitation facilities inspiring those who crossed her path. Carolyn’s perpetual smile, confidence and fortitude were a blessing to all who met her. She knew our Lord had a plan for her and did her best to follow it. Those that knew Carolyn saw God’s grace and mercy reflected in her, until her moment of passing. Carolyn loved the outdoors. Her hobbies included gardening and bird watching. She was an avid animal lover who always kept several dogs and cats. She was a lover of movies and fresh popped popcorn. Her passion, however, was her grandchildren. Spending the night with grandma was pure enjoyment.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Delores Henry. Survivors include her sons, Jimmy (Debbi) and Jeff (Oni), her sisters Cheryl and Roxanne Henry and her brother, Steve Henry. She had 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and all who crossed her path.

The family wishes to thank Carolyn’s employer, Kim Brannon and JeriLynn Murphy for their assistance, friendship and compassion the past two years. With their help and the blessings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Carolyn lived a happy life until she was called home.
