My Grampa Abe was all Irish. Standing barely at 5'1" with reddish brown hair and blue eyes, he knew how to dance with the ladies and drink with the boys. My grampa was smart, witty, and downright onery - a trait which he's passed on to many of us grandchildren. I remember that Grampa taught me how to pinch people with my toes, and also how to put a worm on a hook. He could often be found down at the "beer joint" as it was called back then, where I was first exposed to a juke box and a pool table. I didn't inherit his love of dancing, but I definitely enjoy shooting pool.

He was married to Marybell Purdy until he died, and their only child is Peggy Joyce Lyons. She is my grandmother, and wife of Bud Moxley. My little brother, Jordan Avery, was born in 1997, and was named for Grampa.
