Lu is the daughter of Robert Paul "Bob" Girndt & Murrel Leta Young. She has two sisters, Roberta (dec.) and Harriet "Gail" Hale who lives in Osceola, MO. She died only 4 days away from her birthday when she would have been 91.
Aunt Lu was 1st married/divorced to William Richard "Bill" Brady (dec.) on 27 Dec 1947 in Hutchinson, Reno, KS. They raised their 5 children: William Dennis "Bill", Robert "Michael", Cynthia Ann "Cindy", Timothy Kent (dec.), and Shawn Richard in Topeka, KS where Bill set up his legal firm. She was married 2nd to Harvey Joseph Mayer, Jr. on 27 Jul 1979 in Miami, Ottawa, OK. He has loved her dearly.
Aunt Lu was raised in Newton, KS by her mother. She and her sisters were talented seamtresses and made most of their own clothes during HS. Early on in Topeka she started working for Southwestern Bell telephone company and retired in 1988.
I loved my Aunt. She loved to cook, play Mexican dominoes, go RV'g, do crafts and was always there for her children. I wish I had been able to visit her more, but when I did there was always a place for my husband and I in the downstairs bedroom. I imagine it got a lot of use.
I'll miss you Aunt Lu. Say "hello" to everyone.
