She was born on December 27, 1927 in Davenport, Oklahoma and moved to Arkansas at an early age. Margaret was the youngest of eight (8) children. Her parents, Martha Angeline and William Newton Cowan preceded her in death.

When she was young, she was happy playing in the dirt and rocks but also playing with her dolls. She experienced many things when she was young. Margaret went with her mother who was a mid-wife to deliver babies, help the sick and the elderly. She also had a love of dancing at a very young age and would perform for anyone that asked her to dance a jig! She continued to love music and dance her entire life.

She grew up in Oark and graduated from Oark High School as salutatorian in 1945. She attended Arkansas Tech in the fall of that year. She married Donald Adams on June 25,1948 in Ozark, Arkansas. Margaret and Don lived in Fayetteville for 5 years while Don earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Arkansas. Margaret worked at various jobs to support their family while he was in school. They also lived in Jonesboro, Ark. and Ohio, then resided many years in Little Rock and Russellville. After having her children, Margaret continued her life of service to others by volunteering in her church, working with preschoolers, the PTA, band, Boy Scouts NARFE, and other organizations.

Margaret always put her family first and had a kind heart. Her favorite saying was “What we do for ourselves is mortal, but what we do for others lives forever.”

She is survived by her husband, Donald Adams of Russellville and they recently celebrated seventy-one (71) years of marriage. Margaret and Don had three children;, Glenn Adams, Connie Sloan, and Carolyn Lawrence, all of Texas. They have five grandchildren; Erin Hughes, Garrett Adams, Robert Koziol, Sam Adams and Abby Lawrence and four great grandchildren; Kristen, Adelyn, Caleb and Hannah Hughes.
