Mr. James Edward Alford, age 92 of Lenox, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at a family residence. Mr. Alford was born in Leakesville, MS and had been a resident of Lenox for many years. He retired from International Paper Company in Bastrop, LA in 1985. After moving back to Lenox, he started working as a sales consultant for Laminated Paper, Inc. and retiring from them 22 years later. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Alford was a member of the Conecuh Water and Soil Conservation, the Cattleman's Association, and the Conecuh County Restoration Committee. He is preceded in death by her parents, James "Jim" Alford and Ethel Mae Crocker Alford; two brothers, Ervin Alford and Aubrey Alford; and his sister, Adalaide Swindell.

Survivors include his wife, Mavis June Alford of Lenox; four sons, Darrell (Cindy) Alford of Mobile, Gerald (Phyllis) Alford of Mobile, Paul Alford of Mobile, and Jimmy (Judy) Alford of Mobile; four daughters, Wanda (Tim) Wilson of Brenham, TX, Sharon Joyner of Denver, CO, Tammy (Tommy) Odom of Appleton, and Kay Lancaster of Satsuma; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Waylon Stuckey and Bro. Ronald Shumack officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Methodist Church Cemetery in Lenox. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
