ANNA MAGDALINE (YUHAS) TOMSHO
Born into life on: January 18, 1916
Reborn into eternal life on: March 8, 2013

Anna Magdaline ( Yuhas) Tomsho was born in Trescow, Pennsylvania to Elizabeth and Adam Yuhas on January 18, 1916. She attended school in Hazelton, Pennsylvania. Anna worked as a skilled seamstress most of her life. She provided nursing care to those in need and was a caretaker at St. Joseph’s Monastery Parish in Baltimore, Maryland before retirement. After moving to Manassas she became a teaching assistant at Sudley Playschool.

Anna was a member of All Saints Church and worked as a volunteer in the Rosary Altar and St. Vincent de Paul Societies. She was a child of God with a true devotion to the Rosary. She recited her ‘Sweet Beads’ daily knowing she received Mary’s special protection and the greatest of God’ graces.

Anna was an avid walker. A five mile trek to the grocery store and back was not unusual. She enjoyed sewing, canning fresh fruits and vegetables from her garden, solving crossword puzzles, and reading; especially mysteries, and books on health and religion. She prepared delicious Slovak comfort food : holupki, pieroghis, and halushki, and baked the best kolachkis (nut and poppyseed rolls),and cinnamon buns. Her cherry cream pie was our “cheery dream” pie.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Michael C. Tomsho, six brothers, Cyril, Edward, Joseph, Bill, John, Cassian, and a sister, Marie.

God, in his wisdom, gave us our Mother for ninety-seven years. She accepted his will of hard work and adversity. But through it all, she depended on her faith in God’s word, placed her hope in God’s promises, and loved us patiently and unselfishly as Christ loves all his children.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Monastery Rectory, 251 S. Morley St., Baltimore, Maryland on April 13 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at New Cathedral Cemetery, 4300 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society of All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA 20110.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
