Josephine "Josie" Bell Harvey's father, George Washington Harvey, served in the 60th Virginia Infantry with her husband, John Henry Cook. On 09 Dec 1914, she became post mistress of the Centennial Post Office and served in that position until 14 Nov 1924 when the office was merged with the Sweet Springs Post Office. On 14 May 1934, while living on the Harvey family homestead at Rock Camp, Monroe County, West Virginia, she applied for a pension based on her deceased husband's Confederate Army service. The application was approved on 04 Aug 1934.

Gravesite Details

We suspect Josie is buried near her husband and his first wife. We found no gravestone. The small marker "JHC" is probably John Henry Cook's foot stone.
