Mr. George H. Day, Sr., of 4805 Colwyck Drive, Richmond,VA, departed this life on Monday, June 25, 2007, at Richmond Community Hospital.

Mr. Day was born November 1, 1934, to the late William and Evelyn Day, Sr., in Richmond, VA. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Day accepted Christ at an early age at St. John Baptist Church.

He was educated in the Richmond Public School System.

He joined the Army on February 14, 1958. He retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Day also retired from Bellwood General Defense Center.

Mr. Day loved sports. In his earlier years he played with the Washington Park Blue Sox baseball team. Later the name changed to the Richmond Blue Sox. Mr. Day had a passion for the Atlanta Braves baseball team. His favorite football team was the "Washington Redskins." Mr. Day also had a love for the game of golf, especially watching Tiger Woods play.

He was a faithful member of the Military Retirees Club.

Mr. Day was a quiet spoken man and truly will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Jeanette Y.Comer-Day; three daughters; Vernice D. Barmore (John), Deborah I. Day and Dawn M. Comer; two sons; George H. Day "Bey", Jr. (Annette) and Jerome Comer; two grandchildren; Rion Jones and Tinesha Davis; goddaughter, Breanna Hatcher; two sisters, Mae R. Jones and Jean Claiborne (Joseph); mother-in-law, Beatrice Allen; three sisters-in-law, Marjorie Day, Delores Day and Linda Chavis (Willie Lee); brother-in-law, Robert Owens; a devoted friend, Aubrey Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
