Hans Hendrich (John Henry) Bleiler, 13 years of age, (known as Henry) arrived in Port of Philadelphia on May 29, 1735 with his father, Johnnes Casper Hans Bleiler, 47 years of age. They came aboard the Ship "Mercury of London" captained by William Wilson. The ship left Rotterdam and arrived in Philadelphia on May 29, 1735. His mother, Maria Bohni Plyler who was listed as a passenger on the ship was not on the roll when it landed in Philadelphia, PA on May 29, 1735. It is assumed that she died at sea. Casper and his children including Henry, first settled in Pennsylvania. After Henry's marriage, he and his wife Maria very likely went to North Carolina very shortly after the birth of Frederick as there are no more records for the Plyler's in that area. They are listed in records of Mecklenburg County, N. C. as early as 1764. Henry & Maria left the area near Mt. Pleasant, NC prior to 1789 and settled in the Lancaster District of S. C. They settled along the border of the NC-SC state line in east Lancaster County, SC. It was after they came to North Carolina that the spelling of the name changed from "Bleiler" to "Pliler" and later to "Plyler".

Henry Plyler evidently had a 100 acre plantation in Lancaster District, South Carolina at the time of his death in 1808 as there was a land deed dated at that date. This deed is important as it lists the children of Henry Plyler as follows: Henry Plyler, Jacob Plyler, Paul Plyler, Mary Mosman, Barbara Hovis, Elizabeth Plyler. Apparently, they all were not listed. I will have to check into this again at a later time.
I believe it is a good possibility that Henry was buried in Rowell Cemetery, Stewart Crossroads, Lancaster County, S.C. although not confirmed.
