He was born to the late Otis Young and Beatrice Strong in Granville County.
Roosevelt was a faithful and dedicated member of Goshen Chapel Community Church. He served as Deacon, was a devoted choir member and loyally performed his church duty as tithes collector. He was employed by the N.C. Department of Transportation for twenty-five years in the bridge maintenance department.
He leaves to cherish is memories two children; James Maurice Young (Deirdre) of Olney, MD and Makita Magbie (Kenny) of Henderson, N.C.; One foster son; Darry Thomas (Marie) of Oxford, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Two sisters, Irene Fields and Alice Boyton of Philadelphia, PA.; three sister- in -laws; Min. Martha Elkerson, Etheleen Terry, Wilma Thomas of Oxford, N.C. Several nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and caring friends.
The Eulogist for the Young services is Reverend Jerry Thomas.
The family of James Roosevelt Young would like to thank everyone for all acts of kindness extended to them during the passing of their loved one.
