Dick was a 1949 graduate of Southeast High School, Kansas City, MO. Afterwards, he served in the Army for three years in the 11th Airborne Quartermaster Parachute Maintenance Company. He was a paratrooper with a group named Hell's Angels.

Miriam Elizabeth Fuller became his wife on September 18, 1953 and they recently commemorated 66 years of marriage. In 1955, he proudly joined his father in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #124, retiring in 1994. He and Miriam participated in Bowling Leagues at Nichols Lanes.

Dick accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 1997. Serving the community was important to him and he was a member of the Optimist Club.

Dick enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, ping pong, tennis and many other sports. Spending time with Miriam and their children (& families) was a great pleasure to him, especially Thanksgiving when he would show off barbecue and pie making skills AND Christmas when, each year, he meticulously trimmed an elaborate tree.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Jimmy, Bob, and Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Miriam; daughters: Carol Goodrum (Jim), Karen Moore (Drew), Diana Adell (Mark); son, Paul Burhart (Dawn); eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Coy Oakley; sister-in-law, Ann Moore; and many nephews and nieces.
